"I have been going to Performance Pilates for two and a half years, and can't recommend the studio highly enough. I was initially attracted to pilates to help manage my OOS, and found it excellent. In the studio classes, I was given a highly personalised programme that prevented further injury, corrected postural imbalances, and developed strength where I needed it. "In 2003 after I had been to a number of specialists regarding a back injury which was not getting better, it was suggested I should try Pilates. I had several one on one sessions starting from the basics of breathing properly and moving on to simple exercises. Eventually I progressed to a group mat class and more specialised studio work. It was an enormous surprise to me to learn, after years of gym and aerobic work that my core strength was practically non existent and part of my problem was the overuse of my back. Pilates has enabled me to build up my core strength over a period of time, to a point where my back problem is now minimal. I have also learnt about correct posture and the conditions which will cause me problems. The core stability and strength which I have gained from pilates has also benefitted me in the other sports in which I participate as well as providing me with much more flexibility, mobility and balance. I am so committed to the benefits of Pilates I have incorporated a 20 minute routine into my schedule at the beginning of ever day. Although there are many "self help" instruction manuals, I have really benefitted from attending a studio with qualified instructors so that posture and progress can be checked.
